Consent should never be assumed. Chemistry should never need subtitles. But somewhere between men shouldn’t assume and men need to ask, I think we’ve made the conversation around desire far more binary than desire needs to be. So when I was asked by a man “When do I get to kiss you?” it sent me spiraling. He thought he was seeking explicit consent, but he skipped straight past whether I want to be kissed and asked when he could collect. How ridiculously presumptuous.
